Making Wire Jewelry

Making Wire Jewelry by Hellen Clegg and Mary Larom, is a book in my own personal jewelry making library.  It is published by Lark Books. I purchased it some time ago and have used it to work on my wire jewelry skills for some time.  By working in the different wire guages they suggest and following the patterns, I have learned to work with wire, instead of seeming to “fight it.”  Rather than long explanations on how the guage of wire affects the design, they show you with progressive projects and instructions that take your through the gamut of small delicate designs to bold coils and swirls.  I love the open swirls links shown in silver on the cover, and the rows of coils in an Egyptian-style design.

But they don’t only show wire forming, they include some chain-maille work, so you can improve your link-ability!
I wanted to tell everyone about this book since I refer to it over and over, when I pull out wire and start working.  Grab some inexpensive copper wire and get busy learning and practicing.  These are timeless instructions you will refer to again and again.  If you have made pieces using these instructions, please post a comment and share with us!  Seeing how others take a pattern and make it their own is exciting.  Add this book to your reference “stash.”  You won’t be dissapointed.
